GETTING NOSTALGIC

Postby charger528 on Tue Dec 25, 2007 11:29 pm

it was 91 i had just finished putting my 11-1 440 in my 68 coronet just weeks earlyer.

well i was just out for a ride i came up to a light on 3a in weymouth this guy in 80s monte pulled up next to me and gave it a few revs i looked over and nodded. I dropped it into first let it just idle well when that light dropped i peddled it off the light about 30' or so to keep it from spinning the shit out of the tires then i just matted it boy did i just fly buy him 1st to second felt like i was going through the seat 2nd to third that guys so far behind ha ha then wtf i hear a thud on the floor pan right under my feet before i had a chance to think there was a ungodly noise and smoke every were that thing was shaking so bad i swore i blew the motor but stangly i was have a seriose problem stopping it was sliding all over every time i hit the brakes. when i finally stopped and looked under the car i was amazed by the carnage there was a hole in the side of the trans you could put 2 hands in and the drive shaft was hanging on by 1 cap.

this failure happened at well over 100mph and it taught me a lesson about safty the failure was caused by a weak u-joint i was luky i could have ended up seriosly injured.

it was the frt u-jiont now my cars will all have a drive shaft loop and i always replace the u-jionts with good hd units.

and for the other guy it must have sucked getting a transmition fuild bath
i bet it was like driveing on ice.
