Like I said, it's very hard to get a message board going strong. I'm also not much of a person to post in the random bullshit talk. Ones like NEMS have a huge group of people that have been hanging out forever and they have that "anything goes" rule pretty much which I think attracts a lot of people. Rekless also has a big group of people that hang out a lot and they seem to actively recruit members all the time. I think just that you need to get your word out. I know I had a hard time figuring out how to get to this site at first. A big reason why I signed up here was because Fbobby was running it, and him and I go back to nefbody days.
If I were to ever make a message board again, I would want to make myself a lot more popular than I am now (lol). I'd also make sure I had a group of at least like 10 people who would be willing to make new threads every day. I wouldn't be good at coming up with an interesting topic that would grab attention of random people. Then the meets definitely help (ugh I hate organizing meets). I don't really care for going to hang out in parking lots anymore either. I go to a lot of racing events and have a lot of other activities in my life, so I usually put the parking lot meets at a lower priority unfortunately. Actually, if it were me I would probably suggest just meeting up at big events like shows, races, etc get people out doing things with their car and getting involved. I tried getting people to autocross at one point but not many people are interested.
